In October 2018, Pedro Cardim, Associate Professor at NOVA FCSH and member of the Working Group, was in Manila to sign a Memorandum of Agreement between Universidade Nova de Lisboa and Ateneo de Manila University. Fr. Jose Ramon T. Villarin, SJ, President of Ateneo de Manila University, and Pedro Cardim signing the Memorandum
“The partnership between ADMU and NOVA with the signing of the MOU is a manifestation of the cultural and historic bonds between the two countries, so it is only fitting that we solidify the partnership with this event. Filipino and Portuguese students and academicians alike through this educational alliance will have opportunities to pursue new academic perspectives in their fields of study as well as have a rich cultural experience in an overseas environment.” said Philippine Ambassador to Portugal Celia Anna M. Feria, who was present during the signing.
The Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs and The Manila Times reported the signature of the Memorandum as well.
Pedro Cardim was also invited by the History Department of Ateneo de Manila University and the scientific journal Kritika Kultura to give a lecture at the University, on 30th October: The Status of the Indigenous Peoples across Spanish and Portuguese America (16th to 18th centuries).
