Iberian Accounts of the Philippines in the Early Modern Period

The project aims at providing an informative catalogue of the earliest information about the Philippines in European texts from 16th and 17th centuries. It comprises disperse materials, both manuscript and printed (mainly travel accounts, geographical reports and chronicles), from Portuguese, Spanish, Italian and other European sources.

The Author is Rui Manuel Loureiro, researcher at CHAM – Centro de Humanidades (NOVA FCSH).

The book was sponsored by the Philippine Embassy in Lisbon and is now concluded. It will be available soon.
