In November 2019, Paulo Jorge de Sousa Pinto, researcher at CHAM and coordinator of the PORTUGAL-PHILIPPINES: CONNECTED HISTORIES cluster, was in Ateneo de Manila University, following a kind invitation by Dr. Jonathan Chua, Dean of the School of Humanities. The aim of the visit was to prepare a joint conference School of Humanities/CHAM in 2021 on the quincentennial of Magellan’s voyage. He had meetings with Dr. Nikki Carsi Cruz, editor in chief of the journal Perspectives in the Arts and Humanities Asia, and with the director of the Ateneo de Manila University Press, Dr. Karina Bolasco.
He gave an open lecture about the global impacts of Magellan’s voyage and a class to the students of Portuguese.
